OVERVIEW

The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church was established in AD 52 by St. Thomas the Apostle of Jesus Christ. Education was one of the main area of focus of the Church. The first school to teach English was the Old Seminary of the Church in Kottayam. Even today the Church is in the forefront for imparting the best education that could be provided to the society in a wide range of fields including medical, technical, arts etc. The Church also conducts special schools for the disabled and the handicapped.

The Charitable and Educational Society of the Thiruvananthapuram Orthodox Diocese is a registered society established in 1991 (Reg. No. 977/91) for starting and managing institutions of higher education in Thiruvananthapuram. The Society is sponsored by Thiruvananthapuram Diocese of Malankara Orthodox Church. H.G. Geevaghese Mar Dioscorus was the founder President of the Society in whose rememberance the college is named. H. H. Baselios Marthoma Paulose II , the Catholicose of the East, is the patron of the Society. The Metropolitan of the Thiruvananthapuram Orthodox Diocese, H. G. Dr. Gabriel Mar Gregorios, is the present president of the Society. Mar Dioscorus College of Pharmacy is the flagship of the Charitable and Educational Society of the Thiruvananthapuram Orthodox Diocese (Reg. No. 977/91) established in the year 2004 and offers four year B.Pharm Degree Course, Six year Pharm D and Two year M Pharm affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur and Two year Diploma in Pharmacy approved by Directorate of Medical Education, Thiruvananthapuram.

Visionaries in imparting quality education in the field of pharmacy the college also focusses on the total development of individuals in their field of expertise and prompting them to contribute to the overall development of the nation. Situated on a 10 acre campus in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, in a serene location, it is the only self-financing pharmacy college in the city of Thiruvananthapuram. Mar Dioscorus College of Pharmacy has a state of art infrastructure and an environment for development and learning led by a leadership with progressive attitude.
