MENTORING
Mentoring is a guidance program where experienced faculty members support and counsel
students to help them achieve academic and personal growth.
Aim
The aim of the mentoring program is to empower students to reach their full potential, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.
The institute has adopted mentoring system with following objectives
- To establish a first line of communication for each student with the institution
- To create a sense of oneness among students with the institution
- To identify and mitigate psychology societal and other issues faced by students and coursed there or refer them to experts for remedy
- To make the students be self-aware of their strengths and weakness and take necessary remedial action.
Importance
Mentoring plays a vital role in shaping students' careers and personalities by providing personalized guidance and support.
Mentors can serve to help students balance professional goals with their personal lives or give emotional encouragement during challenging times.
Process
The mentoring process involves:
Student mentoring system starts during the first year immediately after the student gets an admission into the college.
Each mentor is assigned as guardian for 15-20 students. They will continue to be the mentors for the same group of students till their graduation.
Mentor keep contact details of students and parents.
Mentors are instructed to record the details of each student in provided format
Mentor meets the student minimum 4 times per semester and six times per year. Mentor meets the student informally outside class hours as well and guides them regarding their career options
Interaction may include goal-setting, progress tracking and feedback sessions
Mentors shall keep records of all activities related to student mentoring
Mentors shall maintain the confidentiality about the personal information shared by the students.
After every mentoring session, summary report comprising of problems observed during mentoring and suggestions for improvement, shall be submitted to the mentoring committee in prescribed format.
